Football tactical board
Results
Drag a colour onto the pitch to drop a player there, and drag a player around to move them. To take one off, drag it past the touchline and let go, which works the same with a mouse and with a finger.
Each colour numbers itself as you go, and the numbers close up again when one is removed, so the shirts stay in order without you having to fix them.
How do I put a player on the pitch?
Drag one of the coloured circles below the pitch onto it and let go where you want the player. Dragging a player already on the pitch moves them around.
Clicking a colour instead of dragging it drops a player in the centre circle, which is also what happens if you reach the colour with the keyboard and press enter.
How do I take a player off?
Drag them past the touchline and let go. The circle goes dashed while it is outside the lines, so you can see what is about to happen before you release.
That gesture works the same with a mouse and with a finger, which matters because a tactical board gets used on a phone at the side of a pitch. Double clicking a player also removes them, but only where a double click exists.
Why do the numbers change when I remove someone?
Each colour is numbered in the order the players were placed, and taking one away closes the gap so the shirts stay in sequence. Remove the second of four and the remaining three become one, two and three.
Otherwise a board that has been edited for a while ends up with numbers like one, four and seven, which is not how a team sheet looks.
Can I use more than two sides?
There are seven colours and each keeps its own numbering, so you can lay out a team, an opposition, and markers for a ball or for cones without them sharing a sequence.
Nothing here is saved anywhere. The board lives in the page while it is open and is gone when you close it, which is also why nothing you draw leaves your device.
