The world of sponsorships and the impact of Bets
Today, we will explore the world of sponsorships and examine the global impact of betting companies.
One of the most profitable ventures in recent years has been investing in or creating a “Bet” system or “Online Betting House.” These companies have become so successful that they now serve as the primary sponsors for the majority of football clubs worldwide.
Let’s take a closer look at how many clubs in the top leagues are sponsored by betting companies.
Premier League

In the Premier League, 11 clubs are sponsored by betting companies. However, none of these teams belong to the “Big Six,” the top six clubs in English football.
The Big Six have lucrative contracts with prominent brands like Emirates and its subsidiary, Emirates Airways, which sponsor Arsenal and Manchester City. As of now, Chelsea, the defending world champion, has not signed any major sponsorship deals.
La Liga

In La Liga, no clubs are sponsored by betting companies, even though gambling is legal in Spain.
This reflects the strong relationships between clubs and more traditional football sponsors, such as Emirates, which also sponsors Real Madrid. The only club with an unconventional sponsor in La Liga is Barcelona, which is sponsored by Spotify, a company not typically associated with football.
Bundesliga

In Germany, betting companies are not legally allowed to operate as they do in other countries. To operate, a betting company must comply with an extensive set of regulations imposed by the German government. These rules cover everything from the types of permitted games to the maximum amount of money that can be wagered.
Winamax, a French online poker and sports betting site, sponsored VfB Stuttgart as their main partner until the 2024-2025 season. However, Stuttgart announced a last-minute sponsor change and removed the brand prematurely. The club later filed a lawsuit against Winamax, claiming the company suspended payments in the spring of 2025 and failed to pay despite multiple reminders.
Serie A

Although Italy was the first country to legalize and license betting companies, only Internazionale currently has a betting company as its sponsor.
Ligue 1

France established a regulatory body to oversee betting in the country. Currently, only horse racing, poker, and football betting are permitted.
Winamax is one of the companies that meets these regulations and sponsors Le Havre.
Brasileirão

In Brazil, sports betting is widely accepted culturally and is a common practice across the country. Only Mirassol and Red Bull Bragantino do not currently have agreements with betting companies.
Argentine Primera División

In Argentina, betting companies are prohibited unless explicitly authorized by a competent authority, as established by the Argentine Penal Code in 2016. To operate legally, these companies must be regulated by a government agency. Some provinces, such as San Juan in the Andes region, allow online casinos.
In the Primera División, Boca Juniors and River Plate are the only clubs with betting sponsorships.
